Florida - South Carolina trip, June 2000

The month of June was consumed in grand travel plans from Tampa to Talkeetna ostensibly to celebrate Carol's big birthday but hey, any excuse for a party :-)

Dinner with Joe & Reta in a great Greek restaurant in Tarpon Springs
What is a trip without a little shopping?

Great Blue Heron on dock at Keystone Lake

Light at St. Augustine, Florida

We stopped to see David & Laura at Rockys Replay, went to dinner then back to their home.

Old Sheldon Church ruins, Sheldon, SC

One of General Sherman's fire casualties

Scott, Anne and I canoeing the Tullafinny Creek. Heard lots of things go splash but never saw a 'gator. Managed to portage over 2 fallen trees and under a third without falling in!

Yeah, we finally get to the beach!

Scott, Carol, Jerry and Anne. Mike and Brian below.

Intercoastal waterway viewed from the Dahoo bridge to Edisto Island
Our condo was within an easy walk to the beach. The water must have been in the 80s with almost no surf. Ideal for swimming or just floating around.

On the dock waiting for sunset

Carol met CrabMan Joe, (the local fisherman) and we soon had lunch boiled up and ready to eat.

Some can hold it better than others!
Hanging out at the Charleston battery
Pineapple fountain in waterfront park along the Cooper River
Just can't keep the kids out of the fountain!

The swings had a 20 minute limit.

We enjoyed 18+

Charleston is lovely!

The Spoleto Festival Finale was an evening orchestral performance at Middleton Place. Shown are the terraces leading down to the butterfly lakes.
Lovely woman, lovely place

Looking over one of the butterfly lakes to the Edisto River in the distance.

Fireworks cannons are setup between the lakes.

All too soon, it was over
